About
I’m Jason Reaves, a resident in Emergency Medicine at The Ohio State University. This is my personal web site, where you’ll find a blog, a photo album, a large collection of flashcards I made during medical school, information about my educational and medical software projects, and materials for learning Japanese.
Blog
My blog covers such wide-ranging topics as Japanese language learning, information technology, and medicine.

Flashcards
During medical school, I developed a database with more than 75,000 flashcards covering most medical school subjects and clinical rotations. I created the flashcards for SuperMemo for Palm Pilot, a program that I recommend to anyone who needs to learn a large amount of information. SuperMemo is also available for Windows and other platforms.
Software
SuperMemo Creator is a computer program for creating flashcards for SuperMemo. Features include Palm database import/export and file transfer protocol (FTP) integration. The latest version (March 2006) adds the ability to export flashcards with XSLT stylesheets. Once exported, the flashcards can be used with other programs. A stylesheet for speech synthesis (Mac only) and integration with iTunes is available.
SuperMemo PDB Converter, which converts SuperMemo Palm Pilot databases to a variety of text formats, is still available for download, but most of its features have now been integrated into SuperMemo Creator.
Japanese
My wife Lisa’s parents are from Japan, and the ability to speak Japanese is one of her many talents. I’ve been trying to learn the language off-and-on for a long time now, though I’m still very much a beginner. My Japanese language page contains some resources that I’m finding useful.
